The Grand Old Duke
Our master bedroom, offering a double bed with the finest cushions and bed linen, as well as a large, luxury, fitted wet room with underfloor heating for you to enjoy. The room is situated on the first floor of the main house and has amazing views of the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.
In the room, you will also find a wall-mounted 32 inch flat screen TV with built in DVD player, an iPod docking station and alarm clock, a mini-fridge to keep your own drinks chilled, tea and coffee making facilities, a hair-dryer and an iron. We provide thick, soft and fluffy bath and hand towels for all our guests and freshly laundered bedding in all of the bedrooms.
Duke of York
The Duke of York is a title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. Since the 15th century, it has, when granted, usually been given to the second son of the English monarch. The third and last creation of the Dukedom of York and Albany was for Prince Frederick Augustus, the second son of King George III. He served as Commander-in-Chief of the British Army for many years, and was the original “Grand old Duke of York” in the popular rhyme
