Amy & Lee - May 2017
27th December 2015, we were driving back from London having got engaged in the Shard on Boxing Day and we were looking at wedding venues in York. I cried when I read about Deighton Lodge. It was quite emotional to learn that somewhere could allow you totally put your stamp on it!
We were drawn to the fact that when we viewed it, it was a blank canvass, there wasn't even a proper roof at the time, renovations on the barn were well underway. This made us even more excited, the prospect of holding our wedding reception in a place where our friends and family had never been before. Carla had a vision of how the barn was going to look and we were hooked! They pulled out all of the stops to have everything ready for us and made us feel very special!
We could literally choose everything we wanted, from caterers to furniture and styling, plus there was no corkage - bonus!
We stayed at the barn the night before, girls in one side, boys in the other. The boys utilised the snooker room and the next day the girls utilised the beauty parlour, we had everyone we loved around us the whole weekend, which made it extra special.
We got married at the Bar Convent which is part of the school we both went to. When we arrived at Deighton Lodge, we had drinks and canapés in the garden, with the fields in the background and a saxophonist setting the mood. Even the storm didn't dampen everyone's spirits.
The Hog and Apple catered an amazing feast and an amazing bar which blended into the barn perfectly and looked like it had always been there! Ged and the Hog and Apple team could not have done enough for us.
We told Drew and Carla we wanted a party wedding and that is exactly what they helped us create! We laughed, ate, drank and danced......a perfect day in a perfect setting.
