Amy & Richard - May 2018
From the second we got engaged our journey to the perfect venue began and, after many weekends spent searching Richard called me one day from Deighton Lodge to say he was stood in our wedding venue (I was away at the time) and, even though I couldn't see it he was booking it regardless!
I was delighted when my turn came to see it!
The house and the barn, combined with the surrounding areas make for the perfect setting. We loved the way we could personalise the venue and it enabled me to flex some creative flair!
Being from Yorkshire and Lancashire we decided to use that as our theme, with roses being a subtle but very big part of the day.
Bringing friends and family together we wanted a relaxed and sociable feel. We served food from both counties on sharing platters made by the fabulous Hog and Apple and sat people down long rustic tables from Black Cherry Events. It instantly created a more laid back style and set the tone of the day!
Taking inspiration from the barn and it's cattle theme (the urinals themselves are worth a peek!) we used vintage milk bottles as vases, filling them with flowers by the very talented and equally as lovely Frances and Rose.
We got married at the nearby St Helen's Church in Wheldrake and held our reception at Deighton Lodge, extending our celebrations with a BBQ on the lawn the following day. It was a great way of getting the most out of the venue, weather and Bank Holiday weekend!
I can't recommend Carla and Drew enough, from the very start they couldn't have helped more and it made for a totally relaxed stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we really felt at home in Deighton Lodge. Locking up on the Monday I had a lump in my throat as I just didn't want to leave!
I feel so lucky to have had our wedding here and I envy all the lucky couples who will also get the chance to do so.
Your wedding day is so special, make sure your wedding venue is too x
