Matt & Lucy Wedding – July 2016
Matt and Lucy’s Musical Marriage Delight at Deighton Lodge
Matt and Lucy had met through the Shepherd Group Brass Band so music was always going to be a strong theme for their wedding day. They wanted a close family and friend event and chose to celebrate their wedding at Deighton Lodge – giving them the chance to have all of their close family together on the night of the wedding and also a change for friends to take advantage of the field where they could camp or ‘glamp’ on one of the tents provided by Glampit.
Lucy stayed over the night before with her mum and entourage and were woken with a hearty breakfast to set them up for the day! After hair and make-up was completed and the girls put on their dresses (making sure the groom was kept away!) they were ready for the ceremony.
The actual ceremony took place in a marquee on the field of Deighton Lodge. Assembled were friends, family and a 20 piece brass band, courtesy of the Shepherd Group Brass Band and a nod to how they first met. The ceremony was overseen by the quirky and lively Louisa Starr who managed to get everyone singing along to ‘Can’t take my mind off you’.
As is typical with our lovely Yorkshire weather, the showers persisted during the day but didn’t dampen any spirit during the whole day. A reception took place in an amazing Papakata tent – which had been delicately decorated with pretty white flowers, seed favours for the guests, and fairy lights; all lovingly put together by the bride’s family and friends. After speeches, the wedding party enjoyed a sumptuous wedding breakfast provided by the Jinnah; singing, a little bubbly and a curry – what more could you want?!
After the cutting of the cake and Lucy and Matt’s dance to “everything’ by Michael Buble, the DJ took over – pausing to send all of the guests outside for a little surprise organized by Matt and Lucy – Fireworks!
Matt and Lucy then danced late into the night with friends and family before a 30 second walk back to the Lodge for a good night’s sleep!
Reflecting on the wedding, Matt and Lucy said “You only get married once and you only get one chance to make it the best day ever. Listen to nobody else’s opinions and for once put yourselves first. We did and we had the most magical day ever! Thanks to Zena for helping make sure everything happened on the day. There’s no way it would have gone so smoothly if she weren’t with us!”
